Pool, Sauna
The hotel’s leisure facilities include an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym. Robes, slippers and towels are included within the current spa-break packages. Access arrangements differ for ordinary hotel rates, and residents who are not on a spa package may need to purchase a leisure pass.
A facility list does not explain the whole experience. Ask about opening hours, any adult-only periods, treatment availability and whether the outdoor terrace is open during the intended stay. Guests must currently be at least 16 for the spa-break treatments listed in the main packages.
Add the Coast
An English Riviera spa break has an advantage over a hotel that is entirely inward-looking. A short walk towards the harbour or along the coast can sit naturally between arrival and treatment, or after breakfast the next morning. It does not need to become a full sightseeing schedule.
Sea air and a treatment can be an effective pairing, but the Devon coast is exposed in poor weather. Pack for the season rather than the image in the brochure. When rain settles in, the pool, lounge and restaurant give the hotel enough depth to carry the day.
Choose a Room
The Imperial has 152 rooms and suites, and not every category carries the same outlook. Deluxe rooms may offer sea views, balconies or terraces, while other rooms prioritise space or value. Guests booking specifically for Torbay views should select a clearly described sea-view category rather than assuming the hotel’s position guarantees the same aspect from every window.
A balcony or terrace can add a great deal in warmer months. In winter, a larger room and a clear sea view may matter more than outside space. Review the live room description and ask reservations if the outlook is central to the break.
